George Gariott came to join the Keller Wingmen group because he was seeking a group of men with whom he could share his love of Christ Jesus. It was not long before we knew that we were in the presence of a man who has a remarkable past and is facing a very serious challenge in his future. George grew up in a military family, his father retired a Brigadier General from the Air Force. As a member of a highly mobilie family George became very familiar with life oversea…spending a large majority of his time in France where he was introduced to cycling. It soon became his passion.
George followed in his father’s footstep and joined the Army inorder to serve his country. It was not long before he learned that he is a natural born leader. He opted to remain enlisted to ensure that he would remain on the ground and joined the Army Rangers. In his spare time, George would also complete law school, his specialty being international law. George would fight in numerous campaigns and eventually accept special duty overseas as a military law expert.
George eventually left military duty for family and to pursue his law career. Then came the bad news…he was diagnosed with cancer. George’s cancer is a very aggressive and as a result he is nolonger able to practice law.
Wingmen often say…”We”ve got your back.” What makes Wingmen so unique is that our men put action behind their words. Be it a brother who needs blood, job contacts, or an item that will make life a bit easier…Wingmen respond.
The men of Keller Element, heard George”s story. We saw him light up when he described his passion for the road. So, with ther cooperation of Bicycles, Inc we pulled a little bit of money together and presented a bike to a brother who needed a little encouragement. Some would say that George received a blessing. The men of Keller Element will all tell, we were above all very blessed to stand with George.
